QotD: Happy Earth Day
What do you do EVERY day to take care of the earth's environment? What could you do more of?
Oh, it's earth day again isn't it?
You know, once i read about the 160 mile section of the Antarctic shelf that fell into the ocean last month. I realized it's kinda hopeless.
Everything we think is going to happen because of climate change will happen. It might even happen in my lifetime. It's only a horrible thing if you think of it in terms of the destruction of human life, and the current way our society deals with it.
Life will continue in some form or fashion. The amazing thing about evolution is that some creature we haven't even seen yet will rise out of our ashes.
We just might not have Pandas, or California Condors. Hell, our planet might be covered in some kind of toxic algae that can only be eaten by mutant midges, but it's life. And who knows, the intelligent life that comes out of that spawning might stand a better chance than us. We're too fragile and dependent on our environment. We are also 6 billion of a species that somehow believes that the individual is more important than the group. If we were ants, we would have been annihilated epochs ago.
For my own part. I don't eat as much red meat. In fact I make it a special occasion meal. This does two things. It means I am using less of our natural resources to feed myself, and it will possibly keep me alive longer.
